IWRM assumes that water is a crucial factor in a sustaina- -ble development. The ideas of IWRM,  however, not alien to Sri Lankan who are the inheritors  of one of the world foremost hydraulic civilization in the pre Christian era. However capacity building with enhanced knowledge  has to be continued with present scenarios in the water sector

Cap-Net Lanka  as a country partner of global Cap-Net (www.cap-net.org) is mandated to enhance human resources development for IWRM through strengthening and establishment of local and regional networks to deliver education, training, and conducting research for improved management of water resources.
