A core group (CG) was formed to work towards achieving the objectives of Cap-Net Lanka.   This core group consists of individuals working in main capacity building institutions and organizations involved in capacity building in Sri Lanka. They meet periodically for planning activities and to discuss the progress.

                          Prof. Nimal Gunawardana has been working as an academic since 1980 at the Faculty of Agriculture, university of Peradeniya. He has been involved in teaching, research and consultancies in the area of Irrigation, Drainage, Hydrological Modeling, Soil Conservation and Watershed Management. He also has served as the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Deputy vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya.

Presently he works as the Project Director, Crossing Boundaries Project, SaciWETERs  in Hydrabad, India.

Prof. Nimal Gunawardena has served as the coordinator of Cap-Net Lanka since its inception until Feb. 2006.

Prof. Sohan Wijesekera has been working as a Professor of Civil Engineering at the university of Moratuwa. He has been involved in teaching (undergraduates and postgraduates), research and consultancies in the areas of Water Resources Engineering, River Basin Planning, Hydrological Modeling, Water and Sanitation, GIS and RS. He has worked in Mahaweli Engineering and Construction Agency of Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka for about 14 years before he joint the University of Moratuwa.

    He also serves as the Chairman of the International Center for Geoinformatics Applications and Training.
